International Day of the Midwife May 5th 2011

Many midwives around the world celebrate the ‘International Day of the Midwife’ on 5 May each year. The ICM established the idea of the ‘International Day of the Midwife’ following suggestions and discussion among member associations in the late 1980s, then launched the initiative formally in 1992. The aim of the day is to celebrate midwifery and to bring awareness of the importance of midwives’ work to as many people as possible. This is done in many different ways according to what works best in each country.

I want to personally thank all of you who remembered me and all the other wonderful midwives around the world  on the International Day of the Midwife.

I felt very blessed with all the love from facebook and the attendees of the two events that evening.

Please forgive me if I did not respond to your facebook message.  I was trying to keep up all day long as well as see a full load of clients that day.

Thank you to all who came out to support Midwifery at the two events that night.

A Celebration of Womanhood

The event at the Green Wagon was very eloquent.  Here I am standing with Joy Rameriz, whose birth I was honored to attend and Meghan Morton a co-chairperson of the Nashville Birth Network.

Meet the Midwives

Rally and Recognition

6pm-8pm

Then I was off to the rally at Dragon Park.   Clients of Tender Beginnings made up over half of the attendees at the Rally.  You ladies rock!

Here I am with Marcy Depew.

Next year Tender Beginnings will be celebrating 15 years of service.  We are planning an event around the same time as the International Day of the Midwife.   Hope to see all 400+ of our clients there.
